Pam Gibson has been a lifesaver for me. Pam is a careful listener, and with a psychology degree, she can pull things out of me that I didn’t know were there and help me sort through the clutter and arrive at a conclusion. At one point, I was at a real crossroads. I was divorced, lonely, and trying to figure out the next steps. I did have a good job and was financially secure, but really didn’t know how to sort out what I needed/wanted vs. what was the sensible thing to do. I wanted to leave the Chicago area and move South to what looked like a much better life. But was terrified…What if this is a mistake? What if I’m lonely? (Well, I’m lonely now, but still…)

Enter Pam. She and I talked about my values and my reservations, point by point, and she helped me organize my thoughts. A “pros-cons” list was the first to get done, followed by a schedule of what this might look like on a timing front. She helped me organize how this was going to work, career-wise. I would keep my job, and she helped me formulate verbiage to talk with my employer and get “permission” to move, so that aspect would be clear sailing.

It took 6 months to finally pull the plug, and when I finally did, the move happened like a flash. Best thing I ever did….my new home is wonderful, and I’ve not been so happy in decades. Pam helped me think this out, decide what was best for me, and organize the total change in my life in a way that I don’t think I could have without her.

As a college senior with anxieties about relationships, career hunting, and a changing family dynamic, I had a lot on my shoulders that I wasn’t giving myself the proper time to reflect on; particularly regarding myself and my confidence.
